Blog: Ball Pits

So...

Enough about school for a while... A few blog blag posts on xkcd and Last.fm have got me thinking about how awesome ballpits are... Don't you remember going to Charlie Chalk's, or the local PlayZone, and just diving in? Well... I do, and (highly unoriginally, I now realise) I want to have one too!

I've suggested it to my mum, who works at Fat Face, to add to their ever-increasing head office of weird and wonderful rooms, as well as a random caravan. Oh, and whilst we're on the topic, I want!

Blog: I'm Living For The Weekend...

I think I'm going to make this a habit - strangely, though I spend most of the weekend at home, I never seem to have the time to do anything of worth, so future weekend blogs (and possibly Monday, too) will be posted in one big go, rather than separate entries.

So, the weekend went well, I didn't do anything of any particular worth. The old folks went out on Saturday to pick up their new motorbikes from the Honda garage. I don't want to admit it... But they're pretty cool. At some point, I'll take some pictures and post them - but until then, just accept that they're pretty awesome.

Sunday, I spent the entire day revising for my maths calculator paper the next day, that and history for Tuesday, so nothing else particularly to say for that, other than the BBC Bitesize website may be overly-simplified, but they have some excellent mock papers. Seriously.

Monday's paper went well, spent the first six hours of the day revising in the library. We got kicked out to the computer suite half-way through because the Year 6 kiddies had to do their SATs. I remember those, I don't think I worried about them until they were done, yet nowadays these kids are revising for them, harder than I am for my GCSEs.

Anyway, a teacher I don't like was in there, and said to the lady that kicked us out, "Well they'll be working in complete silence, I can tell you that" with so much spite in her voice, I'm surprised she didn't let out an evil laugh afterwards. I don't get that, how is it so hard to be a little bit nice, sometimes? Nobody, with the possible exceptions of Stalin and Hitler, gets respect for being unjustly mean - it's not rocket science.

The calculator paper was really straightforward, I managed to get everything, I think, except one of the final questions, where I was asked to prove some equation equaled zero. I managed to get an answer that was something divided by zero. Twice. So I gave up, and moved on. Fucking laws of maths.

Finally, today was the worst ever exam day, yet went shockingly well. Spoke to Stef, who's still very upset (I'm not allowed to reveal any more - or Joe will call me gay again), then got the English paper done. Had to write about two articles, some long-winded thing about living ethically and the front cover of The Independent, then write to persuade an assembly to 'Campaign Against Waste', which quickly descended into Stalin-esque "we must march forward to a greener life together" rambling.

Then, History, and the best exam paper ever, Treaty of Versailles questions and everything - things I knew! I'd been so worried something random would come up, but I'm relieved it's over, two hours would have been a long time to stare at a blank answer booklet. Ended up writing 10 pages, 16 pages total for the day, and using up an entire ball-point pen.

Finally, I've been watching 'Last Comic Standing' on Paramount Comedy 1, it's hilarious, people audition by telling one joke to two big names in comedy - including the guy who played Carlton Banks in the Fresh Price of Bel Air. Also, Fearne Cotton is in it, which is pretty awesome.

So, today's picture content is related:

As is today's YouTube video:

Coming up at some point, I'll do some commentary on the US Election (John McCain ftw), and more Andy link pimpage. Also, I'll get on the internet to bring you some more sites you've never heard of. Until then, I have lots of exams, so maybe less bloggage - sorry!

Amendment: Also, the Ting Tings' new album is awesome, get it!

Blog: [Insert Sex And The City Pun Here]

Ugh... Long day, so technically I'm posting this entry a day late, but it's 12.36am, so I guess I can let myself off. I've just had a can of Coke, so I figure I'm good for at least another four or five minutes.

Anyway, got up at 8.30 today, to get the 9.40 ferry, to be in Fareham by 11.30 to see Sex And The City with Stef. After she recently split with her boyfriend (who, I am reliably informed, has a very small penis), I figured I should treat her - so out of the goodness of my heart, I not only bought the two luxury seats, but a big tub of ice cream too.

Inside, however, it appeared as though her return offer to buy the snacks would come to nothing as the cinema guy told us her 'card wasn't working'. Bullshit, I'd seen her paying him off about an hour beforehand. Regardless, I had to pay for that too.

The film wasn't too bad, a lot funnier than I'd have expected it to be - although as the only male in the cinema, I felt somewhat out of place, even if my odds had just greatly improved. Stef almost cried once, but I poked her, and the situation was averted. She also spilled my popcorn. Bitch.

After the film, we had time to burn, so went off to the bookstore, purely so I could say, "excuse me, where do you keep your erotic books?". It turns out they were round the back, and we each read excerpts of our favourites - I read a passage from "My Secret Garden" (hehe), and she performed a section of "Tie Me Up".

This game, by the way, doesn't work quite as well in a library, if you're planning on trying.

Returned home, and finished the Dark PerFectioN staff and news pages, much to the satisfaction of Ryan - who I believe is in love with me - he sent me a love heart over MSN. I feel so special.

Andy link pimpage time: Click!

Finally, apparently, the simplistic design of the site makes things look dull, so I need a bit more colour...

Hehe...

Blog: Epic First Entry

So, blogging... I've tried, much like I have real diaries, to get into this a few times, but never really had the mindset to see them through; after all, who cares what I have to say? However, after getting into Andy's blog (Andeh.info) I have decided to start my own.

So here goes:

Today, I went to Morrisons (read: big English supermarket) for breakfast with my Grandparents, who are decidedly old enough that they can follow the same routine every week: Big Breakfast for him, Flying Start for her. She trades him a sausage for one of his hash browns. Woo.

Got back to their house and put the shopping away, before sinking down on the sofa to watch the usual seniors' television. Whilst I don't mind the occasional spot of Bargain Hunt, or Through The Keyhole, an entire day proved too much, so I returned home to face a pile of washing up.

That done, I slinked back to my room to see that the guys at Dark PerFectioN wanted their clan's 'Staff Bios' page done, so I happily obliged - and I must say it's looking rather good. I especially like the picture of 'FireAcolyte', who knew a Google search of 'Nerd' provided such accurate portraits?

After that, played a little more of Half Life 2 (on the Xbox, part of The Orange Box), then watched some show about Skinheads on Sky Anytime. It's funny that none of the people featured realised just how pathetic they look, parading about with their swastikas and big boots... Idiots.

In the world of the Internets, found a great new webcomic (been going for a little while, but I'd never heard of it), called xkcd, based on jokes about maths, programming and language, mostly. The first few comics are artwork, but skip past those and there are some hilarious strips - however the jokes normally come from reading big blocks of text, so if you're a VG Cats fan, best give it a miss.

Also, new iPod advert... Pretty awesome, especially the guy that falls at the end:

Song: Shut Up and Let Me Go by The Ting Tings (now high in the iTunes chart, quelle surprise).

Anyway, I'll draw this to a close by saying Paramount Comedy 2 is showing Mr Bean re-runs from about 11pm, so they're well worth a look for 'retro' lulz. That, and I want to start my own webcomic again...
